The project is intended to support the Union of Tbilisi Museums to better accomplish its mission of “socially engaged” cultural institution and introduce novelties which will ensure its outreach to wider and diverse audiences, upgrade of its services and provision of sound stewardship for its collection of exhibits.
The Project combines three components:
- The first component considers fitting of the Restoration Laboratory functioning on the basis of the Union of Tbilisi Museums. In particular the Laboratory will be provided with the up-to-date and state-of-the-art technology and equipment that satisfies the international standards. It will allow the Union of Museums to accelerate and expand lab’s activities for conservation and restoration of the collection objects as well as will enable it to provide restoration-conservation services to other Museums.
- The second component includes introduction of bilingual (Geo-Eng) audio-guides at the Ilia Chavchavadze Literary-Memorial Museum. The audio-guides will make Ilia Chavchavadze Literary-Memorial Museum more attractive and comfortable for both local visitors as well as for foreign tourists who are interested in Georgian culture, in historic roots of Georgian modern state and its contemporary history. The new technology will definitely contribute to visitors’ increased satisfaction, help the museum better meet international standards and facilitate its further inclusion/visibility in the world’s museums networks, portals.
- The third action is covering production and dissemination of short educational-promo (10) videos via on-line platforms. The activity is directed to increase Museums’ visibility and its outreach to different audiences.
